Hi, I’m Jaime Martín Farelo, a 25 years old Spaniard originally from Segovia, in central Spain. I graduated from the University of Salamanca (Spain) as a criminologist in 2018. Even though I’ve never worked as such, I’ve always kept my interest in this science and continued reading papers and publications related to it. I have experience working in the hospitality industry both in my home country and abroad and I have also worked in the wildfire emergency services in Spain during four different seasons. In addition to this, I’ve previously done volunteer work within the Spanish Red Cross and I’ve also volunteered for the UN online volunteering program.
Since I first started volunteering, I always wanted to do some volunteer work abroad, especially in Eastern Europe as I wanted to experience the culture of this part of the continent. To be more precise, I wanted to take part in a project focused on sustainability and environmental protection. This is why I think that the project “Solidarity for Nature” is a great opportunity for me.
I’ll be working on this project for the next 12 months and I have many expectations both at a personal level and also career-related. At a personal level, I expect to have an enriching cultural experience, not just regarding Romanian culture but I also hope to learn a lot from the rest of the volunteers taking part in the project. In addition, I’m also willing to develop new skills and learn as much as possible while volunteering here.
