In May we attended our on arrival training course. On the first day we introduced ourselves. We talked about our educational and personal backgrounds, plans for the future and why we are in Romania. We also shared information about our own expectations and ways in which we can contribute towards our project’s goals.

On the second day we focused on cultural matters. First, we talked about our own countries and hometowns: traditions, culture, local dishes and so on. Once we had presented all this information with the rest of participants, we moved on to Romanian culture. We took a test in order to see how much every of the participants knew about Romania and Romanian culture. On the third day, we discussed matters related with our health insurance provided by Cigna and about our hosting organization. We also talked about rights and duties of every volunteer and hosting organization.

During the fourth day, we had a really productive discussion about problem solving and how to manage disagreements that could arise among volunteers or between organizations and volunteers.

On Friday, the last day of the training course, we had a session in which we summarized everything we had learnt during previous days. After completing a brief survey about the course we concluded the training week.
