On the first weekend of October, we travelled to Buila – Vânturariţa to participate in an activity with the scouts from Vâlcea county. As we stated on our previous newsletter, we were invited to these activities in order to enjoy nature with local people. The morning was chilly when we arrived in Pietreni. But we warmed up quickly once we started walking up the hill. After walking for a while on the forest road we reached a lookout on “muntele Piatra” from where we had the chance to enjoy the great view for a few minutes. After our break, we continued our hike among the beautiful autumn scenery. We talked with some of the scouts, and they explained us many different aspects about Romania in general and Vâlcea in particular.
Our destination was “stâna din Cacova”. The last section before getting there was quite steep, but everyone managed at their own pace without further complications. In “stâna din Cacova” we had lunch with the rest of the group and basked in the sun. At this time of the day, the sky was clear blue and the sun shining. Sadly, we had to start heading back down to Pietreni to meet the bus that would take us back to Rm. Vâlcea. We can say that we had a great day surrounded by the scouts. We learnt many things from them and this region of Romania. We were willing to come back for the last activity of the year at the end of October. But unfortunately, it got cancelled due to new COVID restrictions.
